About Impuls

Impuls startet as event aiming to reach teens and youth leaders. One conference grew to several conferences, and one location grew to many. Impuls is growing to become a movment with youth and youth leaders that meet in different locations at differnt times throuout the year to worship Jesus with passion.

IMPULS has it's roots in PULS, the youthwork in the IMI Kirken church in Stavanger. It started in Stavanger and was extended to Trondheim in 2004 and then to Kristiansand in 2007 and Bergen and Tromsø in 2009. Currently we welcome 4-5000 participants during the weekends altogether, of which about 3000 come to Stavanger. The summer festival at Lista was held for the first time in 2007. Our goal is to gather IMPULS people from all over Norway and eventually Europe for a weeklong celebration during summer break.

IMPULS is hosted by the following congregations: IMI in Stavanger, Normisjon Vennesla, Norkirken Bergen, Norkirken Tromsø and Salem in Trondheim. All there churches are affiliated to the Norwegian State Church through the Normisjon mission organisation (formerly «Indremisjonen»)

In addition to the weekend conferences, we offer Leader Days in Trondheim and Stavanger for two days following the main conference. These are aimed at youth leaders and include mentoring and optional follow-up sessions.

In addition to conferences, IMPULS has made two worship CDs, in 2003 and 2006 and an EP with five new songs of worship in 2008. All songs are in Norwegian and are all written locally. In 2009 one of our worshipleaders, Christian Hesselberg, release his first album in english called "Liberty - the sound og you and me" and an other worship leader have written a book about worship in norwegian.

IMPULS - THE CONFERENCES

An IMPULS conference has three main aspects: Meetings, seminars/activities and free time to spend with others. The meetings, called Celebrations, consist of a time of worship, a time of teaching and a time for responding to the Word. After each Celebration there's a team of people available for those who wish to talk or ask questions. Both this team and the teachers are experienced youth workers with a strong sense of respect for each individual they meet.

Through IMPULS we want to encourage young people to live out their faith seriously, as committed Christians. We strongly discourage any kind of pressure or abuse in matters of faith.
The consept for IMPULS as a conference, or a festival, is that the participants choose which parts they want to partake in. Most participants come as a part of their local youth group, which is something we encourage and recommend.

We focus on safety and provide mature adults to be present both during the conference and as night watches at the schools where the participants sleep. However, it is not like a camp where we keep track of each participant. We supply a medical team of up to 5-7 people that are on call at all times during the conferences.

We don't have absolute age limits, but our aim is teens, 13 - 20 years, but we know many people in the range 20 - 25 (and older) also attends the conferences.
Food is not included in the conference fee, but there is in general food for sale as necessary. Sleeping arrangements are made at nearby schools.
